Description

Recently there appeared in the Dundee Museum a pattern of Tartan simply labelled DUNDEE with a note on its origin. Produced from a formula contained in the Wilson Pattern Book. Wilson of Bannockburn were Tartan Manufacturers in the 18th century. One of these pattern books was in the possession of Mr John Cargill of Dundee who designed and wove the sample for the museum. The design is very similar to Bonnie Prince CharlieÌÄåÄÌ åÕÌÄå åÛåªÌÄåÄå¢ÌÄå¢åÛå_åÂÌÄåâå¢s Jacket in the United Services Museum in Edinburgh Castle. The Tartan has lain dormant, in fact unknown for 160 years. It has now been resurrected by the Ben Nevis Handloom Weavers of Dundee.
Size will vary depending on sett size, pattern repeat and type of fabric.
