Description

The Galloway tartans there is a red and green mark a new trend in the ever-growing story of The Tartan. Designed by Councillor John Hannay during the 1930s, they were intended for the use of persons, who, having no clan tartan of their own, yet wished to show their attachment to some particular section of the people of Scotland: in this case, the folk of Galloway. Anyone who has any connection, either by blood or interests, with Galloway is entitled to wear either of these setts. They are sometimes found with the light narrow stripe woven in white, but the original had pale primrose.
Size will vary depending on sett size, pattern repeat and type of fabric.
