The MacKenzie Hunting Modern Selkirk Tweed is a heavyweight fabric which is a traditional navy and green based tartan with white, red and brown overchecks. New for 2023, the Selkirk Tweed™ is made from 100% pure new wool and, 52% of the wool is of British origin. The Selkirk Tweed™ stock range comprises of nine classic tartans interpreted to reflect our natural environment and have been woven with a kilting selvedge. This quality is based on our premium Strome™ and is a beautiful addition to our stocked tartans.
This fabric can be made into kilts, jackets, clothing, soft furnishings, upholstery or even craft projects. It is made using 100% pure new wool at the Lochcarron mill in Selkirk, Scotland.
This clan possessed Kintail in the 14th century and take their name from a chief named Kenneth who lived in the 13th century. They were a strong and powerful clan and feuded with their neighbours. They fought against the MacDonalds at the Battle of Blair-na-park in 1491.
